A nursery serving families across north Bristol and South Gloucestershire has been praised by Ofsted for helping children feel safe, settle confidently and make strong progress in their development.
Partou Love Being Little Day Nursery and Pre-school, in Stoke Gifford, met safeguarding requirements and achieved the expected standard across all six areas assessed during its latest inspection.
The report found that children “thoroughly enjoy their time” at the nursery and make progress from their individual starting points, particularly in the key early areas of learning.
Inspectors also praised the setting’s curriculum, which they said was carefully designed around children’s interests and the skills they need at each stage of their development.
The report stated: “All children achieve well from their starting points, particularly in the prime areas of learning.”
Ofsted’s renewed early years inspection framework assesses settings across inclusion, curriculum and teaching, achievement, behaviour and routines, children’s welfare and wellbeing, and leadership and governance.
The Stoke Gifford nursery achieved the expected standard in each area.
Inspectors highlighted the team’s ability to identify when children may need additional help and to work closely with parents and other professionals.
Staff were described as knowing the children well and planning targeted support for those with identified needs.
The report said: “They are sensitive and flexible, giving children and parents time to settle into nursery life.
“Staff are adept at identifying emerging needs and changes in circumstances, promptly putting measures in place to support children’s development and wellbeing.”
Children were found to feel safe and content at the nursery, with staff providing close supervision and ensuring that toys, equipment and activities were appropriate for each child’s age and development.
Inspectors also praised the relationships between children and staff, noting that team members were caring, responsive and ready to offer reassurance when needed.
The report added: “Children form lovely relationships with caring staff. Staff are responsive and sensitive, giving reassurance and hugs when needed.”
Positive communication with families was another area highlighted during the inspection.
Parents told inspectors that they valued the information provided during handovers and their contact with key workers and the nursery’s management team.
The nursery, based on Station Road, serves families from Stoke Gifford, Filton and surrounding areas.
Children have access to indoor learning spaces and a large outdoor area, while regular trips to nearby parks, shops, the library, train station and duck pond help them become familiar with their local community.
Nursery manager Chanelle Goodland said the findings reflected the work of the whole team.
“It is a positive report which reflects the dedication and professionalism of the team,” she said.
“We are proud that Ofsted has recognised our ambition for the children and everything we do to support our families.”
