Residents and businesses in Henbury are being invited to share their views on proposals to make Crow Lane safer for cyclists and pedestrians, improve access to local shops, and create more attractive public spaces for everyone to enjoy.
Plans include:
New and upgraded zebra crossings
Building a separated cycle path from Passage Road to the Crow Lane shops
Creating planting beds
Introducing cycle parking areas
Reinforcing the grass verge and seeding with wildflowers
Creating wildflower meadow areas
Adding new bins and benches
The Crow Lane survey is open until 12 November 2026.
The transport elements of the proposals are part of the council’s Bus Route 2 project, to improve the A37 and A4018 between Henbury and Stockwood and make bus journeys more reliable and helping more people choose walking, wheeling and cycling for local journeys.
Councillor Ed Plowden, Chair of the Transport and Connectivity Committee, said:
We want Crow Lane to be a place where people can travel safely and comfortably, whether they're walking, wheeling, cycling, catching the bus or driving.
These proposals would improve road crossings and create a safer cycle route, helping people get around more easily and access local shops and services.
We're keen to hear from residents and businesses so we can understand what matters most to them before moving forward with our plans.
The proposed high street improvements are being delivered as part of the City Centre and High Streets Programme.
Councillor Andrew Brown, Chair of the Economy and Skills Committee, said:
These improvements are part of our ongoing commitment to creating cleaner, greener and more welcoming high streets across Bristol.
By adding new planting, seating and improved waste facilities, we're investing in the everyday places that matter most to our communities, making them more attractive and enjoyable for residents and visitors, while helping to support local businesses and create vibrant neighbourhood centres where people want to spend time.
The Bus Route 2 project is funded by the UK government through the City Region Sustainable Transport Settlement, secured by the West of England Mayoral Combined Authority.
The City Centre and High Streets Programme is funded through Bristol City Council and the West of England Combined Authority’s Investment Fund.
View the plans and complete the survey by midnight on Thursday 12 November 2026.
